Do Certain Color Combos Make or Break a Veyron?

We've all come to know the Bugatti Veyron very well over the last decade or so. $1 million+ msrp, 1001hp, 250+mph, $25k for new tires, $70k to get those new tires mounted onto their rims, and two keys. I remember when the concept cars first came out and were plastered all over the internet back in the eighth grade. I even did my final project on Ettore himself.

Now I've kind of grown tired of the Bug. I'll admit, its an incredible machine and engineering feat, but today I could rattle off several 1000hp and 250mph cars. The color choices made by the members of the exclusive Veyron owner's club was getting pretty old too. However, every now and then I stumble across a shot of a Veyron that takes me back to my 8th grade self. So let me ask you, do particular Veyron color schemes turn you off? Will these color choices stand the test of time?

Lets get off to a good start with the colors of the concept cars. I have no problem using the term "classic" when I see these colors on a Veyron. These two color combos work very well and will for years to come:

Now I'll give you an example of what I think doesn't work: Matte grey and orange?

Kinja'd!!!

Same thing with the Halloween-y SS:

Kinja'd!!!

Solid colors work very well on these cars:

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I don't like Black and Yellow, or its inverse:

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Also Chrome is pretty lame too:

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

And this Aqua Silvery Grey combo doesn't work either...

Kinja'd!!!

And last I'm going to call this $2.5 million dollar car ugly:

Actually, lets end things on a good note:

It's not like it's a beautiful, elegant or tasteful car in any way, so you really can't ruin it. The only things it really is are fast, expensive and stupid.

I like the yellow/black and gray/orange color schemes. I'm normally a big fan of the red/black, but on this car, it just doesn't work

BUT, what really works for me is this:

Great piece. I think I'm with you in that I'm just tired of the Veyron. Its like a really good TV show that they drug on too long, if that makes any sense.

Thanks! And yeah your Tv show analogy makes perfect sense. It's like The Office after Steve Carrell left (arguably earlier). They could give the car a serious refresh instead of the special editions, but would we care that much if they topped the original?

In my opinion, I'll never understand the allure of the Veyron. It has no racing pedigree like a Ferrari, Bugatti as a company hasn't made bedroom poster porn like Lamborghini. It isn't known for being a good car around a curvy track like a Pagaini, it isn't even really eye catching like a Koenigsegg. It's just good at one thing - blowing the doors off of other stuff in a straight line... with the assist of computers. There isn't even any driver interaction, my grandmother could plop into it and make it go fast. It's a plug and play device.

It is nothing more than a shiny codpiece for Arabic oil tycoons or a pawn in nifty Top Gear challenges.

Love the single color exterior, with the bright interiors, such a nice contrast.

I would eat this car....YUM

For me the prettiest one will always be the Hermès edition. Absolutely perfect.

The Grand Sport Sang Bleu isn't bad either :

This Vitesse was pretty ugly as well. Unexplicably Bugatti used it as a press car.

I agree, I think the single color exteriors look best on this car. The picture you have of the grey car makes a better argument for the color with the black wheels, rather than the one I posted with the orange.

If you think Bugatti has no racing pedigree, you are completely ignoring the history of Bugatti. If you think it's not bedroom poster material, you ignore the fact that to almost the entire population of the first world, the Veyron is the best car in the world. To the layman, it represents the best of the best of the best.

As much as the Veyron isn't an emotionally-connected or analog car, it's a huge engineering feat with funding from one of the world's largest car companies, and demands respect if only for that.

Yeah, I know the wheels in orange just made it look like a cheese puff, but with those black wheels, the interior really sets it off.

I don't know why that Java Chip one works so well, but it does on the sleek rounded body, same with the Audi R8.

Love the blue carbon. Matte grey and orange looks awesome too, because I'm a sucker for the prototype look, but the orange and black SS doesn't do it for me.
